Welcome to the homepage of MindLink, the new IRC client for the Amiga computers.
This is is just a simple page, nothing flashy or anything, where you can get some info
on the project.
The client is still in a VERY Beta stage but the project is going along fine..
A list of the features comes next..
Automatic nicks completion(done)
You can turn nicks completion on, and if you do so, you can use MindLinks
nick completion feature. If you type for example Rme:Hi, and there is a user
on the channel named RMerlin, it will be replaced with RMerlin:hi. Its a bit more powerful than that though.. :)
Mutliple channels support(98% done)
You will be able to have as many channel windows opened as you wish. The windows overlapping is reduced to minimum
by checking each window and finding the best position. Other possible options are centering the window under the mouse and centering the window in the screen.
Another (possible) feature will be channels cycling in the same window. Thats just a possibility though..
Multiple servers support(done)
Simple as that, you can be connected to as many different servers you want..
Query windows(done)
When someone is msging you, a query window will popup for private chat. You can deactivate that if you want and just use the channel's window.
CA GUI
Check http://www.finale-dev.com for ClassAct..
ARexx support(done)
Full AREXX support. You will be able to configure/control ML from every aspect.
CTCP2 protocol(98% done)
ML will be the very first irc client ON EVERY platform which will support the CTCP2 protocol.
(You will need WB3.0+ for the CTCP2 text coloring feature)
DCC support(done)
Full CTCP/DCC support(including CHAT, SEND, GET).
Sketch board support(done)
A special DCC DRAW command will be used for that. A sketchboard which you can use to draw simple shapes and write text, use colors to graphically display your ideas to the other participant.
Fetch command, get files from ftp:// or http://)(done)
Get any file you want from an ftp site, using /fetch ftp://site/path, or even from http using /fetch http://path.
Fully configuarable(WIP(prefs module))
You will be albe to configure ML to suit your needs..
ML is by far the most configurable IRC client on any platform(eat dust PC users:)
URL grabber(done)
A url grabber, thats it :)
Features such options such as 'Send to browser' 'Fetch' 'Save/Clear List' 'Copy to clipboard'
ClickTabs for all channels/users(done)
You can click on #amiga tab, this will bring the window for the channel #amiga to front and will activate it. The same is true for users query windows and others channel. It a bit like pIRCH's clicktabs feature
Notification(WIP)
No need to explain that..
It will support pattern matching though, like Min#ink for example..
Voice chat support(future)
If i get a sampler, i 'll implement this..
Highlight user defined words and user notification(WIP)
Well, no need to explain that i guess :)
Cut'n'Paste(future)
That one is a bit tricky, so it will have to wait..
Iconify everything!(done)
You can iconify every ML window. No more 'if i iconify the channel window all the query windows will be gone'.
Minimum mem usage
MindLink doesn't require tons of mem to run
Here are some ideas suggested by TB(Wayne Martin, martinwa@geocites.com)
Auto New Server
When a whois etc is done on a user and this server is displayed, it is cross checked with the servers database and if it is new it will be added
Auto Censor(done)
Ability to remove or replace certain words on the users end. e.g parents making sure their kids aint exposed to undesirable material.
Cost for being on IRC
In some countries and on some ISPs, phone calls and INet access is charged by time. ML will check the time being connected and wil caclculate the cost based on your country and/or settings..
Channels Lockout
Parents are always worrying about what their kids may find on the INet, XXX WebSites being the most obvious, however we all know IRC is the same. There will be an option that will make channels with certain names(wildcards supported) or topic invisible/impossible to join(for example #?sex#?). The config fo rthis will require a password.
Full User Lockout
If you wish to ignore a user completely, nothing that has to do with that user will be reported.
Many more features, but i don't remember all of them now :)
Features marked with (future) will be implemented, soon..
Features marked with (maybe) might be implemented...
Features not marked with anything are already implemented....
I should apologize for those snapshots being outdated but we promise new snapshots will be added soon.
(EMAP Images)(GB)[!][issue 1998-02].iso/CUCD/WWW/http/palamida.math.uch.gr/markp/ML_grab2.gif)
The very first snapshot of the early BETA version of MindLink..Only the servers window and two
channel and two query windows can be seen, as well as the icon of an iconied query window..
Thats enough for now, soon there will be more snapshots..
If you have any other ideas, please email me. You can find me on #amiga(Anet) and on #amigahellas(GRIRCNet) as MarkP.
Note
Due to lack of time it might take a while for ML to appear. I am trying to spend as much time as possible coding it but its not enough. I am sorry for any delays..
